C.J. Fournier Wins the 2026 Toby Award for Best Canadian Mystery
The Pathfinder, Book 2 in the Denny Durant Montréal Crime Series, has won the 2026 Toby Award for Best Canadian Mystery.
The announcement was made on May 24, 2026 at the Rideau Lakes-Portland Library. The Toby Award, sponsored by ReBound Press and Barbara Crook, recognizes excellence in self-published Canadian mystery fiction, judged by a panel of authors, journalists, editors, and librarians.
The judges called The Pathfinder “effortlessly good” with “some of the best writing we’ve seen in this competition.”
Congratulations also to Ottawa writer Gary Coffin, whose book All That We Lost received an Honourable Mention, and to Carol Moreira, whose novel The Pet-Sit also received an Honourable Mention.
